Conduct & Complaints

  1. During enrolment all students sign a Contract agreeing to behave in line with the university’s Code of Conduct and Equality and Diversity Policy.

  2. In addition to this, all society members agree to Terms and Conditions as part of the joining process via the website.

  3. Society Committee Members agree to BSU Policies stated in their Development Plan and are trusted to govern their society events, (on and off campus), reporting any behaviours (such as bullying & harassment).

COMPLAINTS

COMPLAINTS

Occasionally an individual or group may wish to complain about a BSU Society or it’s members. We recommended that complaints are made informally to begin with in order to try and resolve the situation.

  • If you wish to make a complaint about a society or its members, please briefly list your concerns and send to bsusocieties@brighton.ac.uk we can then invite you to a meeting.

Where possible complaints will be dealt with informally with the individuals concerned. All parties will actively engage with a view to providing a solution and acceptable outcome.

  • If you wish to make a complaint about a student’s conduct who is a member of a society but the issue took place outside of society activity, this must be directed to the University of Brighton complaints procedure. Students can get support on this through our Advice Team.

As we (BSU) are a separate organisation to the university we can only deal directly with complaints involving:

  1. Registered BSU Society Members

  2. Which took place at a BSU Society event or activity

Using the BSU Complains Procedure. Please see full BSU Complaints Policy below.
